Legendary Timberlands: The 'PLG' Effect.
This blog is based on one of the designs on the legendary classic '6inch' nubuck Timberland boots. The Timberland boots are classic and a highly fashionable product that is worn by many and highly endorsed by celebrities such as; Kanye West, Drake and Rihanna just to name a few.
The design crafted on the Timberlands were designed with the use of specially manufactured leather paint from Angelus Brand. The colourway on these boots feature red, black and a camo effect with a fusion of colours (black, red, white and grey). These boots were designed for a client and were originally in monotone black and nubuck material (notice how instead of nubuck they boots are now leather).
Why such a fusion of colours? As addressed in the previous blog post every design is crafted to be unique and add its own influence to creativity and fashion. As a creative brand being unique in style of design is key. Together with the client we came up with a bunch of ideas and fusions that would be nice and stand out. The client wanted a difference and emsured the timberlands should be transformed to a complete leather boot instead of the signature nubuck material. The tranformation from nubuck to leather enhances the durability and longevity of the boots. The base of the boots are leather black, red on the collar and the camo fusion on the toungue of the boot was added to enhance a louder and exciting look. There's something about the colour red that just turns heads. Red is loud, bright and exciting and also expresses many different things. Also currently red has become highly fashionable and stylish especially in the sneaker and footwear industry.
The camo design features colours; red, black, white and grey. The camo design on the tongue gives the boots more of a statement and a special type of style that is unique. Wearing these boots are a walking statement. How often do you spot red camouflage timberlands? The combination of colours was a simple idea and fusion that was discussed and put together with the client. Together we decided red and black would be too simple and the boots needed more style and freshness. With the camo design and range of colours the boots can be styled with many different types of outfits and colours, in the image below we can see the client has styled it with dark grey tappered jeans and a coco channel vest top.....take a look for yourself.
